What is Toastmasters? If you are unfamiliar with this new term, you may think that it is a bunch of masters who toast some bread. You may be surprised to learn that Toastmasters has no connection at all with toasted bread!

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit* educational organization which was founded by Ralph C. Smedley in California, in 1924. The Mission of Toastmasters is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Over the last 83 years, this organization has grown to nearly 235,000 members in 11,700 clubs in 92 countries.

In every Toastmasters club meeting, members are given opportunities to develop their communication skills by speaking in front of other members. One unique method which this organization has is that there is no instructor at all. Each speech and meeting is evaluated in a positive manner, simply by giving feedback on what was done right and what could be improved in the future.

PS:
1. I have been joining Toastmasters (both in Indonesia and Taiwan) for the last 2 years..
2. IMHO, I suggest you to join this well proven system with a long good track record rather than to develop your own new system. Why take another way if there is a shortcut?
