at first "what is device?" device is tools that we use for any purpose..

that's right if you said guy is a man.. but i said a stupid guy..this is phrase so..it's not about gender but kind of adjective/characteristic it self such as crazy guy, lazy guy, wise guy,etc.

Word "guy" is generally refers to male person, but it's genderless.

but you may not use the word genderless , if you mean genderless is not refer to a certain gender so you can also say common
