His Eminence Rinpoche is recognized in Ganden, By Protector Setrap Chen ( this is a rime protector ) as a mahasattva a very high level bodhisatvva. In Tibetan Buddhism we view our lama as the BUddha , the logic behind it one of them is that , the Buddha has gone to nibbana , who is left to do the activities of the buddha Teaching the dharma , helping students of the dharma, spreading the dharma to people , it is the lamas, rinpoches and monks. I have know His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche since  I was 19 years old . And I'm going to be 37 this year. I'm Malaysian residing in Kuala Lumpur and naturally I am very involved in Kechara the organization and its growth.
within tibetan tradition to establish or check out a lama before one establishes that relationship you can check up to 12 years . To check whether the teacher or not. lamas and Rinpoche's some can be lay and some are monks. His Eminence holds on to his monks vows, bodhisattva vows and tantric vows purely . he is in constant communication with his teachers in Ganden monastery , the mother monastery in South India .  

Rinpoche's books and publications are endorsed by the monastery directly, if there is any improprietary with His Eminence , he will be summoned by his monastery and admonished. The monks in Ganden monastery are very high and very pure , and it is under Rinpoch'es guru's request that Rinpoche goes out to teach in the world. I believe in karma , cause and effect, if Rinpoche does do anything illegal or not in accordance to the dharma ,his organization and his works will fail , karma is infallible , karma does not lose its strength and will always come back. Guaranteed otherwise Buddha would be lying .

Currently we have two monks from Ganden visiting us and teachings the lay sangha in malaysia on doing pujas. Rinpoche is famous in Ganden India for devotion to his teachers / compassion or bodhicitta.

For lay people if they have thoroughly checked this teacher or that teacher, says things that cannot be validated and it influences people to lose faith in Rinpoche/ Buddhism / Buddha Dharma , one can collect quite a lot negative karma. Unless you can take care of these people until enlightenment.
Especially if the Rinpoche/teacher/lama holds his vows , has realizations. Actions done to normal people and holy people the weightage is different . Slapping a holy person one collects more karma. This is not a threat to people ,but you will reap what you sow .

Oh yea Rinpoche's methods are unconventional , we stay up late in the night listening or having meetings that never end. He crushes our ego by making fun at us . If it was truly a cult , they'd be a lot of drugs , sex and partying , instead all I get is , take more responsibility , always say I can be a better person, teach more people , give up more of your self to others, benefit others oh yeah he ask us to be monks and nuns too. How do you know how to check if the teacher only want benefit from you or is only about making money? Even if you  go the wrong way the teacher will not scold you or reprimand you , will always smile at you. We get screamed at by Rinpoche if we do something wrong , think you got a brain use it.

....  I am not some country bumpkin just hopped off the train , I'm a government scholar and I studied in Imperial College in London one of the top engineering & science universities in the world I got a first as well, and guess what we got more and more professional and business people joining us day by day .

I'm not trying to make people feel bad of themselves , some of you say things about my teacher because you do not know , so I am sharing with you. And yes there is a bit of me who don;t want people to create negative karma unnecessarily , man we got enough , we still stuck in samsara up to now , since beginningless time , why do you want more negative karma. This does not only apply to His Eminence to all Dharma teachers, Theravadan , Mahayana you name it.  

Rinpoche put dharma shops in malls OMG ! Is he making money, out to make money ? Hmmm , no silly he does it because there too many wesak day/I got trouble/problem buddhists, only go temple or pray when got problem or wesak day. As Ajahn Brahm said Wesak day buddhist, I love ajahn brahm so funny.  Selling dharma items like statues for example with the motive to only get money/ profit very bad , very very bad, karma is very strong and negative. Many stories about people going to the lower realms selling dharma items for profit.

There was a Rinpoche in the 60's his name was Chogyam Trungpa , he did many 'crazy' things , he was a rinpoche who gave back his monk vows, he did everything crazy under the sun, sex , drugs ,sake non stop . His incarnation is back , the organization he left behind is intact and flourishing . His teachings are amazing I read some his stuff. Tibetans in his day called him a disgrace , nowadays after he passed people start to realize that he was a mahasiddha , using really unconventional methods to train people and break their conceptions of what can or cannot do .  IN china we have cai gung ,he was highly attained and he was always drinking chinese wine and eating dog meat , but he was more realized than many monks in the temples. I'm not saying I am mahasiddha and we all can be mahasiddha . Some people are mahasiddha , they can do funny/crazy ( we think its crazy because we can't relate to it ) . People used to be burnt at stake in Europe when they said the earth was Round, burning people still does not make you right .
