Nutritional Benefits

Bitter gourds are very low in calories but dense with precious nutrients.  It is an excellent source of vitamins B1, B2, and B3, C, magnesium, folic acid, zinc, phosphorus, manganese, and has high dietary fiber.  It is rich in iron, contains twice the beta-carotene of broccoli, twice the calcium of spinach, and twice the potassium of a banana.

Bitter melon contains a unique phyto-constituent that has been confirmed to have a hypoglycemic effect called charantin.  There is also another insulin-like compound known as polypeptide P which have been suggested as insulin replacement in some diabetic patients.


Diabetes mellitus:  Bitter melon contains a hypoglycemic compound
(a plant insulin) that is highly beneficial in lowering sugar levels in blood and urine.  Bitter melon juice has been shown to significantly improve glucose tolerance without increasing blood insulin levels.

dimasak sayur kuah enak..., pas makan siomay jg pasti pake pare, kl ngk kurang sedap wkwkwk

bokap gua jg diabetes, tapi gk pernah sih di suruh makan pare baik dr sinshe atau dokter RS.. tapi nanti gua kasi tau infonya dah..

biasa diabetes itu gejala plg kontrasnya.. cepat lelah, lelahnya berbeda dr lelah olahraga dll.. dr pengalaman lihat bokap sih,, baru kerja sebentar2 aj uda gak tahan, katanya pala nya pusing terus bwannya mau tidur terus.. di cek ternyata kadar gula uda 400++ katanya sih itu da parah bgt dll gt deh..
plg satu lagi, kl kena luka sulit sekali sembuh... itu yg saya tau doank heheheh

IMO.. lebih baik dijuice.. tentunya sudah dicuci dengan bersih.. karena pada saat di masak, vitamin2 yang larut air cenderung akan rusak dan hilang dengan pemanasan.

ada trik untuk mengurangi rasa pahitnya dengan merendam dengan air garam..
cuma menurut saya pribadi, kenikmatan makan pare justru terletak pada rasa pahitnya..

Di Jepang, ada makanan khas orang sana khususnya daerah okinawa (CMIIW), yang dinamakan dengan ゴーヤーチャンプルー (go ya chanpuru) yang berarti pare campur..

kadang makan pare tapi belum pernah merasakan pahit-nya, biasa aja
ato lidah-nya yang ga beres ???
