i think, i will do that it's quite hard for children to understand something truth or not.. n the time will answer that whether right or wrong... for the mean time let me telling the white lies to my children for their kindness..

I ever read, even Lord Buddha will not answer questions if the answer is not at correct time or can bring false understanding to   anyone who hear it. So when the time is not right or cannot be understand by someone who ask for an answer, silence is the best thing we can do. But if we silence without explanation, then may be our children could get wrong answer from wrong person. Sorry for my bad english.

Then i think we should understand about the kids first. If our silence could get accepted then silence is the best answer.  But if silence not the best answer for kids, then white lies could be the best next answer, avoid kids from wrong answer  from wrong person and avoid them from bad condition. But white lies could decrease kids trust for you, until they understand why we did that and forgive us. If they don't, then it's our risk.
Losing our kids/make them in bad condition because our silence or losing our trust from them because our white lies.
I think if it's our own kids then when the situation comes, we know what the best for them.
Every action, even no action has it's own risk.

this time of age, kids are critical.. do you think golden silence like u said could appease them??? even if we answer it kids might be find another way to get that.. so i think it's depend on the situation, for me i will answer it even lying..

truthful ehm ehm!!
IMO truthful is white area, but sometimes we can not always walk in white area, there're grey or black or any different colour area.
Thuthful can be real pain.
