According to my experience, there are some common mistakes in translating bahasa to english.
Examples:
lampu merah = red light, should be traffic light
kacamata hitam = black glasses, should be sun glasses
foto = photo, should be photograph
If you find other common mistakes, please post them here... ;D

This one is really disturbing me ....
we often hear people says, " Aduh...gue boring sekali deh ".
maksudnya sih dia lagi bosen sekali..
but actually....
boring = membosankan
while bored = bosan.
thus if u say " saya boring sekali "
berarti kamu emang membosankan....
hehe Bored already ?

one big noticable mistake is "waroeng" :hammer:

close light=turn off
open light = turn on
delicious crazy(enak gila!) = Yummy..
delicious only(enak aja) = no way...

Actually it just pop in my head. I was trying to use Cafe but i use waroeng instead and it' not in english. That was on purpose ofcourse

I think waroeng is cool,
represent something typically indonesian,
a waroeng need to be used, before it claimed by Malaysian again hehehe.

IMHO, "photo" is quite common you know... using "photo" is not some mistake, it's true

We had "my makan place" in Medan. It's a restaurant.... I've never been there yet.

The correct term is Bahasa Indonesia.
