Why English...?
« on: 26 December 2010, 09:54:28 PM »
 ^-^ ^-^ hy All...
lets talk about why we learn english...

for example...
Learning to speak English well may be the best thing you can do to improve your life.

That's right. Do you think it would be fun to have access to information that other people can't get? Talk and write letters to interesting people that others can't communicate with? Impress people around you whenever you opened your mouth? Make big jumps in your career, leaving others miles behind?

You can get all this if you speak English well.

And 4th,rely on the essence of your pure Wisdom Mind, not on judgmental perceptions

Sis Rina, I got interested with English since my childhood. At that time, my father was under the guidance of Germany government. I was really impressed by my father's mentors. They spoke really different. We could not understand. We only understood their words through translator. After then, I used to imitating their conversation. Without knowing what I uttered, I just uttered anything coming to my mind. Honestly, I do not remember any single words that those people uttered and my words too. Now I already speak in English for about seven years, yet my vocabularies are still too poor. Why do I speak in English? Why do I learn English? I speak in English because I want to improve my English. I do hope that I can speak English fluently, of course much better than now. I learn English because I have to read books written in English. Beside that, I study in English medium. I also want to encourage my fellows to learn English. If we are able to speak or read and write in English, we would be able to learn something more, we can communicate with foreigners easily.

hmm.. if me...
(exclude study English at school)
I learned English when i was elementary school, my friends are joining an English course, and the first time i heard about that, i'm not interested at all but i keep joining coz i love to have more friends, day by day my friends leave this place and i keep study, for 5 years... heheh..quite long time right? but i got nothing at all... (now is still nothing sih..but better than before lar...hahaha) then i study in a course which the teacher is a native, i got more these day...listening well than before but my composition and grammar is still so bad...

then my friend ask me to become a teacher, i study hard at that time...so i can give a good material to my student...

then i stop teaching and working in an english course where there are so many "bulek" and i can practice listening and speaking, but to admit my writing is still not good...haha..

what about you guys...

I am also lazy in writing and reading. I read and write only if I have to do assignment. If not, I have no reason to read and write.

Just cannot help myself not to laugh when I read your comment. It is really funny. Anyhow, just do not stop to learn English. Whatever the mistake you make in learning English, it is a normal thing in the study. You might not believe, when I was still in the Secondary high school, I got grade 0 as my homework all were wrong, not even a single sentence I did was correct. But, I never did not give up. I learned again and again until now I can speak English though not really well.

Don't think that speaking in Bahasa Indonesia will make life much more easier. If you say "Malu aku!" to Sri Lankans, they will give you fish as "malu" means "fish". When Sri Lankan girl say "Panas pahae" to you, you would be so surprised, got fainting maybe. But, "panas pahae" means "fifty-five" hahaha

i like english.. i got introduced to the language "English" when i was very very young, maybe at kindergarten i guess, and have begun to like that language since that time.. i don't know why i like english and was very interested at the first time i knew it.. then, i began to learn english and i was so interested that i liked to talk to foreigners and even i wanted to move to the US (that's what i thought when i was a child).. until now, i like speaking english, writing in english, and reading english textbook since i think english textbooks are far better and easier to understand than the translated ones, which are very hard to be understood and make me confused.. translating a textbook really isn't an easy job to do.. even me, if i were the translator, i won't be able to make a good translation..
then, by the time i grew up, i knew Singlish and thought it is a more practical form of English language, hahaha.. then i also learn singlish lah.. but unfortunately singlish has ruined my grammar,T_T

i still remember when i was working in a company where my colleagues is "bulek"

they keep complaining how's Indonesian does the job...heheh...at that time i got used to argue with them everyday although i was not very fluent in english... then sometimes i become very emotional coz i know very little vocabulary and loss in arguing...

arguing is very nice things when you know much vocab...

when i was i kid, i learn english to watch cartoon
actually i think i learned english by watching cartoon + sesame street

when i was teenager, i learn english to watch movie and sitcom
i think i watch the sitcom "friends" from episode 1 until the end 2-3 times
and also to read english book, because some are really nice
and it's much more fun and clearer to read the original books than the translated one

when i was in college, i learn english for pride maybe
i had some english native-speaking friends and they speak really fast
i used to taught that my english is good enough
but after meeting those foreign friend, i realize that my english is very shallow and limited

now, i rarely used english anymore
but indeed english is a lot of fun, and very useful
now i just used english to watch movies without having to read the subtitle

There is pleasure when a sore is scratched, But to be without sores is more pleasurable still. Just so, there are pleasures in worldly desires, But to be without desires is more pleasurable still.

Some funny things, I learned English because I play game ...
Do you believe it ?
I like to play game, when I was child . I played searching thing game. Because of that, I can improve my vocabulary.
But, I was zero at school. The teacher always stared at me. It's so embarassing. Time after time, I learned much more.
And the funny things again, I can improve my English from playing game. Because I learned to know what is the characters was talking about.
There are many sources of how you learned English.

Until now, I keep to learn. Although, it was still novice, but I kind a like it.

I have a friend that sit in front of me. She can not speak English nor the vocab. I kinda' hates it. But I am also felt sorry about her, because there will be an UN. If you still didn't know about what the question is about, how can you pass the exam?

It was so fun, when you can speak easily with the other. And also told the other like this.
