atha khalu bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ mahākāśyapaṁ tāṁścānyān sthavirān mahāśrāvakānāmantrayāmāsa-sādhu sādhu mahākāśyapa| sādhu khalu punaryuṣmākaṁ kāśyapa yadyūyaṁ tathāgatasya bhūtān guṇavarṇān bhāṣadhve| ete ca kāśyapa tathāgatasya bhūtā guṇāḥ| ataścānye'prameyā asaṁkhyeyāḥ, yeṣāṁ na sukaraḥ paryanto'dhigantumaparimitānapi kalpān bhāṣamāṇaiḥ| dharmasvāmī kāśyapa tathāgataḥ, sarvadharmāṇāṁ rājā prabhurvaśī| yaṁ ca kāśyapa tathāgato dharmaṁ yatropanikṣipati, sa tathaiva bhavati| sarvadharmāśca kāśyapa tathāgato yuktyopanikṣipati| tathāgatajñānenopanikṣipati| yathā te dharmāḥ sarvajñabhūmimeva gacchanti| sarvadharmārthagatiṁ ca tathāgato vyavalokayati| sarvadharmārthavaśitāprāptaḥ sarvadharmādhyāśayaprāptaḥ sarvadharmaviniścayakauśalyajñānaparamapāramitāprāptaḥ sarvajñajñānasaṁdarśakaḥ sarvajñajñānāvatārakaḥ sarvajñajñānopanikṣepakaḥ kāśyapa tathāgato'rhan samyaksaṁbuddhaḥ||
tadyathāpi nāma kāśyapa asyāṁ trisāhasramahāsāhasrāyāṁ lokadhātau yāvantastṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatayo nānāvarṇā nānāprakārā oṣadhigrāmā nānānāmadheyāḥ pṛthivyāṁ jātāḥ parvatagirikandareṣu vā| meghaśca mahāvāriparipūrṇa unnamet, unnamitvā sarvāvatīṁ trisāhasramahāsāhasrāṁ lokadhātuṁ saṁchādayet| saṁchādya ca sarvatra samakālaṁ vāri pramuñcet| tatra kāśyapa ye tṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatayo'syāṁ trisāhasramahāsāhasralokadhātau, tatra ye taruṇāḥ komalanālaśākhāpatrapalāśāstṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatayo drumā mahādrumāḥ, sarve te tato mahāmeghapramuktādvāriṇo yathābalaṁ yathāviṣayamabdhātuṁ pratyāpibanti| te caikarasena vāriṇā prabhūtena meghapramuktena yathābījamanvayaṁ vivṛddhiṁ virūḍhiṁ vipulatāmāpadyante, tathā ca puṣpaphalāni prasavanti| te ca pṛthak pṛthagū nānānāmadheyāni pratilabhante| ekadharaṇīpratiṣṭhitāśca te sarve oṣadhigrāmā bījagrāmā ekarasatoyābhiṣyanditāḥ| evameva kāśyapa tathāgato'rhan samyaksaṁbuddho loka utpadyate| yathā mahāmeghaḥ unnamate, tathā tathāgato'pyutpadya sarvāvantaṁ sadevamānuṣāsuraṁ lokaṁ svareṇābhivijñāpayati|
tadyathāpi nāma kāśyapa mahāmeghaḥ sarvāvatīṁ trisāhasramahāsāhasrāṁ lokadhātumavacchādayati, evameva kāśyapa tathāgato'rhan samyaksaṁbuddhaḥ sadevamānuṣāsurasya lokasya purata evaṁ śabdamudīrayati, ghoṣamanuśrāvayati-tathāgato'smi bhavanto devamanuṣyāḥ arhan samyaksaṁbuddhaḥ, tīrṇastārayāmi, mukto mocayāmi, āśvasta āśvāsayāmi, parinirvṛtaḥ parinirvāpayāmi| ahamimaṁ ca lokaṁ paraṁ ca lokaṁ samyak prajñayā yathābhūtaṁ prajānāmi sarvajñaḥ sarvadarśī| upasaṁkrāmantu māṁ bhavanto devamanuṣyā dharmaśravaṇāya| ahaṁ mārgasyākhyātā mārgadeśiko mārgavit mārgakovidaḥ| tatra kāśyapa bahūni prāṇikoṭīnayutaśatasahasrāṇi tathāgatasya dharmaśravaṇāyopasaṁkrāmanti| atha tathāgato'pi teṣāṁ sattvānāmindriyavīryaparāparavaimātratāṁ jñātvā tāṁstān dharmaparyāyānupasaṁharati, tāṁ tāṁ dharmakathāṁ kathayati bahvīṁ vicitrāṁ harṣaṇīyāṁ paritoṣaṇīyāṁ prāmodyakaraṇīyāṁ hitasukhasaṁvartanakaraṇīyām| yayā kathaya te sattvāḥ dṛṣṭa eva dharme sukhitā bhavanti, kālaṁ ca kṛtvā sugatīṣūpapadyante, yatra prabhūtāṁśca kāmān paribhuñjante, dharmaṁ ca śṛṇvanti| śrutvā ca taṁ dharmaṁ vigatanīvaraṇā bhavanti| anupūrveṇa ca sarvajñadharmeṣvabhiyujyante yathābalaṁ yathāviṣayaṁ yathāsthānam||
tadyathāpi nāma kāśyapa mahāmeghaḥ sarvāvatīṁ trisāhasramahāsāhasrāṁ lokadhātuṁ saṁchādya samaṁ vāri pramuñcati, sarvāṁśca tṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatīn vāriṇā saṁtarpayati| yathābalaṁ yathāviṣayaṁ yathāsthāmaṁ ca te tṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatayo vāryāpibanti, svakasvakāṁ ca jātipramāṇatāṁ gacchanti| evameva kāśyapa tathāgato'rhan samyaksaṁbuddho yaṁ dharmaṁ bhāṣate, sarvaḥ sa dharma ekaraso yaduta vimuktiraso virāgaraso nirodharasaḥ sarvajñajñānaparyavasānaḥ| tatra kāśyapa ye te sattvāstathāgatasya dharmaṁ bhāṣamāṇasya śṛṇvanti dhārayanti abhisaṁyujyante, na te ātmanātmānaṁ jānanti vā vedayanti vā budhyanti vā| tatkasya hetoḥ? tathāgata eva kāśyapa tān sattvāṁstathā jānāti, ye ca te, yathā ca te, yādṛśāśca te| yaṁ ca te cintayanti, yathā ca te cintayanti, yena ca te cintayanti| yaṁ ca te bhāvayanti, yathā ca te bhāvayanti, yena ca te bhāvayanti| yaṁ ca te prāpnuvanti, yathā ca te prāpnuvanti, yena ca te prāpnuvanti| tathāgata eva kāśyapa tatra pratyakṣaḥ pratyakṣadarśī yathā ca darśī teṣāṁ sattvānāṁ tāsu tāsu bhūmiṣu sthitānāṁ tṛṇagulmauṣadhivanaspatīnāṁ hīnotkṛṣṭamadhyamānām| so'haṁ kāśyapa ekarasadharma viditvā yaduta vimuktirasaṁ nirvṛtirasaṁ nirvāṇaparyavasānaṁ nityaparinirvṛtamekabhūmikamākāśagatikamadhimuktiṁ sattvānāmanurakṣamāṇo na sahasaiva sarvajñajñānaṁ saṁprakāśayāmi| āścaryaprāptā adbhutaprāptā yūyaṁ kāśyapa yadyūyaṁ saṁdhābhāṣitaṁ tathāgatasya na śaknutha avataritum| tatkasya hetoḥ? durvijñeyaṁ kāśyapa tathāgatānāmarhatāṁ samyaksaṁbuddhānāṁ saṁdhābhāṣitamiti||
atha khalu bhagavāṁstasyāṁ velāyāmimamevārthaṁ bhūyasyā mātrayā saṁdarśayamāna imā gāthā abhāṣata—
dharmarājā ahaṁ loke utpanno bhavamardanaḥ|
dharmaṁ bhāṣāmi sattvānāmadhimuktiṁ vijāniya||1||
dhīrabuddhī mahāvīrā ciraṁ rakṣanti bhāṣitam|
rahasyaṁ cāpi dhārenti na ca bhāṣanti prāṇinām||2||
durbodhyaṁ cāpi tajjñānaṁ sahasā śrutva bāliśāḥ|
kāṅkṣāṁ kuryuḥ sudurmedhāstato bhraṣṭā bhrameyu te||3||
yathāviṣayu bhāṣāmi yasya yādṛśakaṁ balam|
anyamanyehi arthehi dṛṣṭiṁ kurvāmi ujjukām||4||
yathāpi kāśyapā megho lokadhātūya unnataḥ|
sarvamonahatī cāpi chādayanto vasuṁdharām||5||
so ca vārisya saṁpūrṇo vidyunmālī mahāmbudaḥ|
nirnādayanta śabdena harṣayet sarvadehinaḥ||6||
sūryaraśmī nivāritvā śītalaṁ kṛtva maṇḍalam|
hastaprāpto'vatiṣṭhanto vāri muñcet samantataḥ||7||
sa caiva mama muñceta āpaskandhamanalpakam|
prākharantaḥ samantena tarpayenmedinīmimām||8||
iha yā kāci medinyāṁ jātā oṣadhayo bhavet|
tṛṇagulmavanaspatyo drumā vātha mahādrumāḥ ||9||
sasyāni vividhānyeva yadvāpi haritaṁ bhavet|
parvate kandare caiva nikuñjeṣu ca yadbhavet||10||
sarvān saṁtarpayenmeghastṛṇagulmavanaspatīn|
tṛṣitāṁ dharaṇīṁ tarpet pariṣiñcati cauṣadhīḥ||11||
tacca ekarasaṁ vāri meghamuktamihasthitam|
yathābalaṁ yathāviṣayaṁ tṛṇagulmā pibanti tat||12||
drumāśca ye keci mahādrumāśca
khudrāka madhyāśca yathāvayāśca|
yathābalaṁ sarve pibanti vāri
pibanti vardhanti yathecchakāmāḥ||13||
kāṇḍena nālena tvacā yathaiva
śākhāpraśākhāya tathaiva patraiḥ|
vardhanti puṣpehi phalehi caiva
meghābhivṛṣṭena mahauṣadhīyaḥ||14||
yathābalaṁ tā viṣayaśca yādṛśo
yāsāṁ ca yad yādṛśakaṁ ca bījam|
svakasvakaṁ tāḥ prasavaṁ dadanti
vāriṁ ca taṁ ekarasaṁ pramuktam||15||
emeva buddho'pi ha loke kāśyapa
utpadyate vāridharo va loke|
utpadya ca bhāṣati lokanātho
bhūtāṁ cariṁ darśayate ca prāṇinām||16||
evaṁ ca saṁśrāvayate maharṣiḥ
puraskṛto loke sadevake'smin|
tathāgato'haṁ dvipadottamo jino
utpannu lokasmi yathaiva meghaḥ||17||
saṁtarpayiṣyāmyahu sarvasattvān
saṁśuṣkagātrāṁstribhave vilagnān|
duḥkhena śuṣyanta sukhe sthapeyaṁ
kāmāṁśca dāsyāmyahu nirvṛtiṁ ca||18||
śṛṇotha me devamanuṣyasaṁghā
upasaṁkramadhvaṁ mama darśanāya|
tathāgato'haṁ bhagavānanābhibhūḥ
saṁtāraṇārthaṁ iha loki jātaḥ||19||
bhāṣāmi ca prāṇisahasrakoṭināṁ
dharmaṁ viśuddhaṁ abhidarśanīyam|
ekā ca tasyo samatā tathatvaṁ
yadidaṁ vimuktiścatha nirvṛtī ca||20||
svareṇa caikena vadāmi dharmaṁ
bodhiṁ nidānaṁ kariyāna nityam|
samaṁ hi etadviṣamatva nāsti
na kaści vidveṣu na rāgu vidyate||21||
anunīyatā mahya na kācidasti
premā ca doṣaśca na me kahiṁcit|
samaṁ ca dharmaṁ pravadāmi dehināṁ
yathaikasattvasya tathā parasya||22||
ananyakarmā pravadāmi dharmaṁ
gacchantu tiṣṭhantu niṣīdamānaḥ|
niṣaṇṇa śayyāsanamāruhitvā
kilāsitā mahya na jātu vidyate||23||
saṁtarpayāmī imu sarvalokaṁ
megho va vāriṁ sama muñcamānaḥ|
āryeṣu nīceṣu ca tulyabuddhi-
rduḥśīlabhūteṣvatha śīlavatsu||24||
vinaṣṭacāritra tathaiva ye narā-
ścāritraācārasamanvitāśca|
dṛṣṭisthitā ye ca vinaṣṭadṛṣṭī
samyagdṛśo ye cāviśuddhadṛṣṭayaḥ||25||
hīneṣu cotkṛṣṭamatīṣu cāpi
mṛdvindriyeṣu pravadāmi dharmam|
kilāsitāṁ sarva vivarjayitvā
samyak pramuñcāmyahu dharmavarṣam||26||
yathābalaṁ ca śruṇiyāna mahyaṁ
vividhāsu bhūmīṣu pratiṣṭhihanti|
deveṣu martyeṣu manorameṣu
śakreṣu brahmeṣvatha cakravartiṣu||27||
kṣudrānukṣudrā ima oṣadhīyo
kṣudrīka etā iha yāva loke|
anyā ca madhyā mahatī ca oṣadhī
śṛṇotha tāḥ sarva prakāśayiṣye||28||
anāsravaṁ dharma prajānamānā
nirvāṇaprāptā viharanti ye narāḥ|
ṣaḍabhijña traividya bhavanti ye ca
sā kṣudrikā oṣadhi saṁpravuttā||29||
girikandeṣū viharanti ye ca
pratyekabodhiṁ spṛhayanti ye narāḥ|
ye īdṛśā madhyaviśuddhabuddhayaḥ
sā madhyamā oṣadhi saṁpravuttā||30||
ye prārthayante puruṣarṣabhatvaṁ
buddho bhaviṣye naradevanāthaḥ|
vīryaṁ ca dhyānaṁ ca niṣevamāṇāḥ
sā oṣadhī agra iyaṁ pravuccati||31||
ye cāpi yuktāḥ sugatasya putrā
maitrīṁ niṣevantiha śāntacaryām|
niṣkāṅkṣaprāptā puruṣarṣabhatve
ayaṁ drumo vucyati evarūpaḥ||32||
avivarticakraṁ hi pravartayantā
ṛddhībalasmin sthita ye ca dhīrāḥ|
pramocayanto bahu prāṇikoṭī
mahādrumo so ca pravuccate hi||33||
samaśca so dharma jinena bhāṣito
meghena vā vāri samaṁ pramuktam|
citrā abhijñā ima evarūpā
yathauṣadhīyo dharaṇītalasthāḥ||34||
anena dṛṣṭāntanidarśanena
upāyu jānāhi tathāgatasya|
yathā ca so bhāṣati ekadharmaṁ
nānāniruktī jalabindavo vā||35||
mamāpi co varṣatu dharmavarṣaṁ
loko hyayaṁ tarpitu bhoti sarvaḥ|
yathābalaṁ cānuvicintayanti
subhāṣitaṁ ekarasaṁ pi dharmam||36||
tṛṇagulmakā vā yatha varṣamāṇe
madhyā pi vā oṣadhiyo yathaiva|
drumā pi vā te ca mahādrumā vā
yatha śobhayante daśadikṣu sarve||37||
iyaṁ sadā lokahitāya dharmatā
tarpeti dharmeṇimu sarvalokam|
saṁtarpitaścāpyatha sarvalokaḥ
pramuñcate oṣadhi puṣpakāṇi||38||
madhyāpi ca oṣadhiyo vivardhayī
arhanta ye te sthita āsravakṣaye|
pratyekabuddhā vanaṣaṇḍacāriṇo
niṣpādayī dharmamimaṁ subhāṣitam||39||
