A diplomat who has access to radiation tracking by the U.N.'s Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization told The Associated Press in Vienna that initial readings show tiny amounts of radiation have reached California. But it's not dangerous in any way — "about a billion times beneath levels that would be health threatening," the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the organization does not make its findings public.

seperti yang di perkirakan tidak mengancam kesehatan public tapi kalau mendengar kata kata sebelum nya "dilute in the air" (melemah di udara / menghilang di udara?)

The government will allow shipments of some produce from areas near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant as they have proven safe enough to consume, its top spokesman said Friday.

The restrictions on raw milk from Kitakata and six other towns in Fukushima Prefecture, and spinach and ''kakina'' leafy vegetable in Gunma Prefecture will be lifted, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said at a news conference.

The six towns are Bandai, Inawashiro, Mishima, Aizumisato, Shimogo and Minamiaizu.

The government had restricted shipments of some farm products from four prefectures -- Fukushima, Gunma, Ibaraki and Tochigi -- following the release of radioactive particles from the tsunami-stricken nuclear plant.

The government, however, changed the way in which it applies such restrictions earlier this week, now imposing them on a town-by-town basis and making it a condition that each product will not be banned from being shipped if radioactivity data stays below safety limits for a third straight week.

Cina Perluas Cakupan Larangan Impor Makanan Jepang

Japan defends radioactive water disposal, vows to fully inform world

TOKYO, April 5, Kyodo

Japan defended Tuesday its dumping of a massive mount of low-level radioactive water from the crisis-hit Fukushima nuclear plant, saying the action does not violate international laws, and pledged to fully inform the international community of Tokyo's steps to tackle the ongoing emergency.

Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto said at a press conference that Tokyo had briefed diplomatic corps in Japan on the start of radioactive water disposal hours before the plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. began releasing the liquid into the Pacific Ocean on Monday evening.

South Korea has aired concern over the radioactive water release as a neighboring country and said Tuesday that Seoul will ask Tokyo to allow it to conduct on-the-spot radiation tests for seawater contamination if necessary.

Boris Preobrazhensky of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a researcher based in Vladivostok, also criticized the dumping of radioactive water, saying it could adversely affect migratory fish in the western Pacific as well as the Russian fishery industry.

Hidehiko Nishiyama, a spokesman for Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, expressed regret over triggering concerns among neighboring countries.

''We feel very sorry for causing anxiety among our neighbors. We could not help but resort to the measure, but we will provide full explanations from now on,'' he said at a news conference.

The foreign minister stressed that the discharge poses ''no significant health threats'' to human bodies, but said Tokyo will explain to other countries about the background of measures taken at the Fukushima plant, where the nation's worst nuclear crisis is unfolding following the March 11 massive earthquake and tsunami.

He also said the dumping does not violate the 1986 Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, which obligates nations to provide data such as the accident's time, location and radiation releases to affected states when harmful trans-boundary radiation release is feared.

The treaty also encourages voluntary reporting of accidents that do not meet the criteria for mandatory notification. Matsumoto said Tokyo has notified the International Atomic Energy Agency of the radiation leak in accordance with the pact.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano separately said Japan contacted the IAEA rather than individual neighbors because the water has been released from the plant on the Pacific coast. The top government spokesman also said the discharge would ''not cause immediate radioactive contamination in neighboring countries.''

Matsumoto also said Japan has been making its best efforts to minimize the sea contamination in line with the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Diffusion of radioactive substances predicted

Japan's science ministry says radioactive substances will continue to diffuse to the northeast in the Pacific Ocean for several days after being released from the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

The ministry conducted a computer-simulated prediction of movements of such substances, based on a seawater survey as well as data on currents in nearby waters.

On April 2nd, levels of radioactive iodine-131 near the water intake of the plant's No. 2 reactor were found to be 7.5 million times higher than the legal limit.

The ministry says the radiation levels are on the decline, but remain high.

The ministry's short-term prediction says the substances will spread from the coast to the northeast, maintaining their levels for several days.

The ministry's long-term prediction says the substances will be carried south by a current 100 kilometers offshore in lowered concentrations, then move east with a rapidly-moving current off Ibaraki Prefecture in about a month.

The ministry said the concentration of radioactive substances in the sea is likely to decrease gradually.

The ministry plans to step up monitoring of the movement of radioactive substances in waters around the plant and release another prediction.

Excessive radioactive cesium found in fish caught off Fukushima

TOKYO, April 13, Kyodo

Radioactive cesium 25 times above the legal limit for consumption was detected Wednesday in young sand lance caught off Fukushima Prefecture, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said.

One of the sample fish had a level of cesium of 12,500 becquerels per kilogram about 500 meters off the city of Iwaki, and 35 kilometers from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station, it said. The limit is 500 becquerels under the Food Sanitation Law.

Radiasi Fukushima Meningkat 18 Kali Lipat
« Reply #7 on: 02 September 2013, 12:03:11 PM »
senin, 2 september 2013.

kebocoran.

Japan Wants to Build an Ice Wall to Contain Fukushima's Radioactive Water
« Reply #8 on: 04 September 2013, 03:50:14 AM »

After weeks of deliberation, the Japanese government has finally intervened in the increasingly desperate situation at Fukushima.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a $470 million plan to contain the leaking radioactive water at the nuclear power plant by building a giant wall of ice underground. And guess who's going to pay for it (hint: not TEPCO).

The taxpayers are going to foot the bill, of course. With up to 400 tons of radioactive groundwater leaking out to sea every day, Abe said that the situation required "radical measures" after TEPCO's "haphazard" handling of the problem. And this ice wall idea is pretty radical. The plan involves pumping coolant through underground pipes to freeze the soil around the reactor
buildings. Workers will also use some of the funding to remove radionuclides from the contaminated water on site, including the hundreds of leaky storage drums on site.

agak menyedihkan bencana nuklir fukushima dan effect nya masih belum berakhir dan tertangani.
