Bukankah pembagian meditasi Samatha/Vipasanna didefinisikan sekarang2x doang ?
Mungkin lebih cocok kalau di pakaikan istilah sehari-hari saja dalam diskusinya...

Sutta Pitaka dengan kata kunci 'vipassana' dan menemukan sekitar 90 entries di mana tercantum kata 'vipassana'; sering kali entries tsb bergandengan dengan istilah 'samatha'. ... Antara lain di dalam Yuganaddha-sutta ini (A.N. 4.170).
Yang mengubah 'samatha' menjadi 'tranquillity' dan 'vipassana' menjadi 'insight' justru adalah penerjemahnya, sehingga tampaknya seolah-olah kedua kata itu tidak ada dalam Sutta Pitaka.
Yuganaddha-sutta.m:#1: "Idha, aavuso, bhikkhu samatha-pubba.ngama.m vipassana.m bhaaveti. Tassa samatha-pubba.ngama.m vipassana.m bhaavayato maggo sa~njaayati. ... "
#2: "Puna ca para.m, aavuso, bhikkhu vipassanaa-pubba.ngama.m samatha.m bhaaveti. Tassa vipassanaa-pubba.ngama.m samatha.m bhaavayato maggo sa~njaayati. ..."

#2: "Then there is the case where a monk has developed tranquillity preceded by insight. As he develops tranquillity preceded by insight, the path is born. ..."
#3: "Then there is the case where a monk has developed tranquillity in tandem with insight. As he develops tranquillity in tandem with insight, the path is born. ..."
#4: "Then there is the case where a monk's mind has its restlessness concerning the Dhamma [Comm: the corruptions of insight] well under control. There comes a time when his mind grows steady inwardly, settles down, and becomes unified & concentrated. In him the path is born. ..."
