Namo Buddhaya,
Kalau belajarnya loncat ke Buddha-Nature, jadinya seperti saudara Triyana, menganggap Buddha-Nature adalah Atman
The following noted stanza quoted whenever there is an allusion to the philosophy of the Yogacara is taken from the Chinese Sandhi-nirmocana-sutra:
The Adana-Vijnana is deep and subtle,
Where all the seeds are evolved like a stream;
I do not elucidate this for the ignorant,
For they are apt to imagine it an ego-substance.
(hal 258) (Suzuki)
Tathagata-garbha thought is complementary to sunyata thought of the Madhyamika and the Yogacara, as it is seen in the Uttaratantra. The Uttaratantra first quotes the Srimala-devi-sutra to the effect that tathagata-garbha is not accessible to those outside of sunya realization and then proceeds to claim that sunyata realization is a necessary precondition to the realization of tathagata-garbha. There is something positive to be realized when one’s vision has been cleared by sunyata. The sunyata teachings of the prajna-paramita are true but incomplete. They require further elucidation, which is found in the Uttaratantra.

Buddha-nature is the main subject of this text. Basically, if you want to know about Buddha-nature, then this is the text that you have to study. I get the sense that people think that emptiness is difficult to understand, but they somehow overlook Buddha-nature, thinking that it’s easier to understand. But
it’s easily misunderstood, just as emptiness is easily misunderstood. People who have a nihilist habit – right wingers, those who wear berets, chew cigars and enthusiastically adopt an attitude that’s impossible to fit into society, those who consider themselves intellectuals – might pretend that they love Nagarjuna and his words. But they can completely miss the point and become useless.
And then there are people who have eternalist habitual patterns – leftists, who have lots of wind chimes in their homes, who try all kinds of essential oils, avoid wearing fur, and look down on smokers – they might pretend that they
understand Maitreya. Buddha-nature is very good for touchy-feely people like Californians! But they can completely miss the point of Buddha-nature.

I don’t know if this applies to all Buddhist schools, but the general rule or tradition in schools of Buddhist philosophy is that students study Madhyamika first, because it really helps to deconstruct all kinds of concepts. Madhyamika is followed by vinaya, metaphysics and all that. And gyü lama, the Uttaratantra, is
taught at a later stage, often as the last text in the Buddhist curriculum, and many masters of the past say that the Uttaratantra is like a bridge between the sutras and tantra.

BTW, saya lihat Nagarjuna termasuk silsilah ke-14 Zen India. Tentunya saya lebih percaya tulisan Nagarjuna yang disebut "Second Coming of Buddha" dibanding pewarisnya ratusan tahun kemudian dari Jepang.
